About

We are…

We are a family owned automotive repair business in Frederick County, Maryland. Parker’s Automotive is a full service, bumper to bumper, automotive shop with top quality ASE certified technicians. We use state of the art computerized diagnostic equipment combined with the experienced know-how that you expect from professional mechanics.

Urbana’s Number One Automotive Shop

When we first started this business in 1998 the internet was still mostly hype. Well that’s probably still true, but in 1998 57% of non-internet users said they worry “not at all” about missing out on something by not going online. But for those that did go online, trying to find something online was the top frustration, followed by slow connection speeds.1. But, here we are today reading online about Parker’s Automotive and why we are Urbana’s Number One Automotive Shop. So why is that? Because our reputation has let us lead other other shops in online ratings. We are that good because we do care about the customer being first. We won’t sell you something you don’t need and if you’re not happy we will work with you to get you there. We want your repeat bussiness. Our reuptaton relies on it.

How to Choose a Repair Shop

What should I look for when choosing a repair shop?

Ask for recommendations from friends, family, and other people you trust. Take your time and look for a repair shop before you need one to avoid being rushed into a last-minute decision. Don’t be afraid to shop around by phone and online for the best deal, and compare warranty policies on repairs. Also, your state Attorney General’s office or local consumer protection agency may know whether there’s a record of complaints about a particular repair shop. And make sure the shop will honor your vehicle’s warranty.

How to Choose a Technician

Is one technician better than another? Yes. Look for shops that display various certifications, like the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) seal. Certification indicates that some or all of the technicians meet basic standards of knowledge and competence in specific technical areas. Make sure the certifications are current, but remember that certification alone is no guarantee of good or honest work. Also, ask if the technician or shop has experience working on the same make or model vehicle as yours. Remember, trust your gut. It’s your car and you have to feel safe when drving it.

Auto Warranties & Routine Maintenance

Do I have to use the dealer for repairs and maintenance?

No. To keep your warranty in effect, an independent mechanic, a retail chain shop, or even you yourself can do routine maintenance and repairs on your vehicle. In fact, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which is enforced by the FTC, makes it illegal for manufacturers or dealers to claim that your warranty is void or to deny coverage under your warranty simply because someone other than the dealer did the work. The manufacturer or dealer can, however, require consumers to use select repair facilities if the repair services are provided to consumers free of charge under the warranty.

Tips To Avoid Warranty Issues

Here’s how to get the most out of your vehicle’s warranty:

  • Read your warranty.
  • Be aware of your warranty period.
  • Service your car at regular intervals.
  • Keep all service records and receipts, regardless of who performs the service.
